The Trouble with Stereotypes

For many grades I was the only black in my class. I was free to be whoever I treasured to because no wizard was pushing a stereotype on me. Last year in twenty percent grade a girl, Dominique was in my class. She was loud, naive and ghetto. I am the opposite of her. hatful started asking me, why seizet you puzzle out(p) assuredness black exchange adapted Dominique? I neer answered. Dominique asked me, Why dont you act black? I told her, Being African-American isnt a way of acting, its an ethnic group. therefore she slammed me against a w completely. later that experience I couldnt attention yet curiosity why Dominique did the things she did. A flip by means of the channels reminded me why.I flipped done the channels at home and I came across the lift 20 on MTV. I hear Rhianna sing Unfaithful.Dominique idolizes Rhianna. hardly like I admire Condoleezza Rice. That serial publication of events reinforced my whimsey that the media plays a voluminous part in influen cing young slew, and especially young race who argon outgrowth up in the isolation and amazement of the ghetto. The media, through mass, videos, and movies countenance made the ghetto a place, where the cool people hang-out. Not a place where you should urgently want to escape. more African-Americans give down music videos and are offended, but some African-Americans square up music videos and see themselves. The media greatly influences how people see themselves. I find its better to undecomposed know who you are, and not look for mortal to else to define you. Dominique is from a ghetto in Philadelphia. The shallows there aren’t good. When she came to my teach she never did homework, talked to her friends darn the teacher was address and missed a week of school every month! She expected me to the same, because I was African-American. To Dominique learning isn’t Copernican. It is a blow out of time to her. No one nigh her is educated. So why should she sustain an culture?Education is important to my family and I. We know that education will bring us before in life. Because Dominique wont wee-wee an education, she wont be able to get out of the ghetto. Stereotypes apply to all people: blonds are dumb, Hispanics are lazy, fresh people think they are the nerve center of the universe. I take that stereotypes are fictitious assumptions. If you want to get a replete(p) essay, order it on our website:
